Were one week into the New Year. The classes have gone really well at Pablo and Dana's new studio. Almost all the milongas are still closed though several have opened and been closed by the police later on.
As you can envisage people here are still very angry over the deaths of 186 from the fire tragedy in the Cromagnon Nightclub. Over 700 people have were injured making this the of the worst fire disasters in Argentine history.
Two officials have resigned but many people want the resignation of the Mayor Aníbal Ibarra. Several marches have taken place ending up in rioting. Last night I watched as the marchers returned from their route followed by the riot police. As the procession passed by some of the protesters were pulling rubbish off the side of the road and setting fire to it. It is quite frightening to see this then been followed by a motor cycle motorcade, many police vans one armoured water cannon vehicle and then a squad of riot police. The situation is very difficult and complex.
